About Me

My photo
Hi, welcome to my blog, I am a writer of short stories, children's and YA novels . An acceptance from People's Friend finally made me a published writer! Yeah, happy days! I have since had stories published in The Weekly News and The Last Laugh anthology. My main love is writing children's/YA novels...I'm now enduring a fruitless search for an agent... I also draw and paint, I like to draw animals (usually my adorable crazy cats!)Occasionally famous people and motorcycles.

In my notebook ...

...There are lots of little phrases about cats and kittens.
The front cover is a kitten and the words, 'to own a cat is to join a worldwide community of devoted slaves.' Quite so.

Sometimes I think 'I should really tell that cat who's boss!' The cat then looks at me with that knowing stare. Hmm.

Another phrase is 'you can choose, a cat, or furniture.'
My furniture is looking very very sorry for itself.

Anyway, I love my little notebook and every page is full of titles of stories I've written and where I have sent them or intend to send them.
I was flipping through it yesterday to see how many stories are awaiting responses and found that I only have five out and about! Aggh. No wonder it's all gone very quiet.
At least a rejection in the post is proof that I made an effort.
I need to get some more posted out, I need more rejections!

On a positive note, I got my copy of 'Someone has to Die, Volume 4' from Spikethecat with my story in, which is very exciting! I have put it on my shelf so I can see it when I'm feeling deflated.

Sorry about the lack of posts! I blame the school holidays. I don't know why, I just do.

  1. Well done on your latest anthology publication.

Another cat quote I always remember is 'dogs have owners, cats have staff'. Mind you, I don't think that applies to our dog, he definitely sees us as staff!

  2. Love the cat quotes and well done on the story! I think we all go through periods of suddenly realising how little we've produced - I can't blame the school holidays but I don't like summer as it makes me lethargic.

  4. Hi pen and paints. Well done on the anthology story. Here's another cat quote.
'You don't choose your cat, your cat chooses you.'

  6. Congratulations, penandpaints. I have a copy of the anthology and can't wait to read your story.

I tried to tell our cat what to do - once. She's half Scottish wildcat and I didn't stand a chance.

  7. It sounds like you have been very productive so don't be too harsh on yourself! Having five things out there is fantastic. I have two things out in the wide blue yonder - both short story comp entries, and both do not announce which story has done what until after October! Patience is a virtue... an' all that... *bites fingers*
