About Me

My photo
Hi, welcome to my blog, I am a writer of short stories, children's and YA novels . An acceptance from People's Friend finally made me a published writer! Yeah, happy days! I have since had stories published in The Weekly News and The Last Laugh anthology. My main love is writing children's/YA novels...I'm now enduring a fruitless search for an agent... I also draw and paint, I like to draw animals (usually my adorable crazy cats!)Occasionally famous people and motorcycles.

lazy days

This is my Milly moo,

She's just lolling about stretching in the sun, she loves those dried up crunchy leaves! She's so cute when it's nice weather, she loves the family being outdoors, she shows off!
So, HOT HOT today. thought I'd do a bit of writing out on the laptop. Of course life is not that simple and I couldn't see the screen with the glare from the super sunshine. So I threw my cardigan over my head and made a little 'tent' over me and laptop. It was alright for a few minutes, then I got too hot. Then my battery went dead, so I took it as a sign that my laptop doesn't like sunshine and took it inside.
So, all I managed was a comment on one blog. No other writing of any productive style at all.
And...why is it there are never any ice cubes when you need them? Just empty trays in the freezer. Why do people do that? Had to resort to chopping up an ice pop to put in my drink.
Oh well. It's sunny. I'm happy. :)
Has it been a lazy Saturday for you?

  1. Hi Pen & Paints
Thanks for your comment on my blog - much appreciated :-) I have a Milly too (as opposed to a Milly Moo...) Sadly, she wouldn't get on with yours - she's a Saluki Lucher. She likes cats, but for all the wrong reasons! Hope weather isn't peaking to soon. Hope also that your laptop revives - and you, too after your crushed ice pop....
    All best

  2. Milly looks so chilled out and contented.

It was so hot here this afternoon that we ate two big dishfuls of triple chocolate ice cream. We had no choice in the matter at all. The weather made us do it. And we may just have to do it again tomorrow.

  4. That is one of the loveliest sights - a cat stretched out soaking up the sun. I do miss mine and your photo of Milly has put a big smile on my face!

  5. Your cat looks so contented. One of ours drapes himself over the stones on the rockery in the full sun. Yesterday, he was very interested in a passing ladybird, but was too laid-back to stretch out his paw far enough to grab it. I would love to have his life, he is so relaxed and carefree.

I can't work in the sun either, but feel guilty being tucked away inside when the weather is so special! So I mooch out there every so often and watch the cats soaking it up. Quite often ideas for stories come to me while I'm just sitting there. So it isn't time wasted and I can then come back in and start writing again.

I know what you mean about the ice-cubes. We also find empty cereal packets and Pringles tubes in the cupboards. I can never understand why!

  6. Aw, I like the photo of Milly moo enjoying the sun. All I can say is you've all obviously had much more heat and sunshine than we have! It's probably our warmest two days so far (up here in the west coast of Scotland) though not quite in the same league as further south. But it did get me finally starting work on some gardening.

  8. Milly thanks you all for your appreciating her beautifulness!
The weather's rubbish again, so it's a good job we made the most of it!

  9. Hi..your Milly Moo is really cute. Unfortunately I don't have any Milly Moo. Its really hot here too, in India. But if I were to take my laptop out, I would get no work done at all.

  10. That's a very laid back cat. Love the photograph.

There are those days when we don't do much writing or blogging. But those sunny days aren't wasted if we only enjoy the sun!

  11. Gorgeous photo, penandpaints.

I'm not fond of hot weather (don't like cold either - in other words, never happy) but I really like your idea of chopping up an ice pop to make ice cubes.

  12. Thanks for stopping by my blog to give congrats!

    :)

My character in my book did the same thing you did. She was in the desert and couldn't see her locater screen, so she put a makeshift tent over her head. Good to know it works!
