About Me

My photo
Hi, welcome to my blog, I am a writer of short stories, children's and YA novels . An acceptance from People's Friend finally made me a published writer! Yeah, happy days! I have since had stories published in The Weekly News and The Last Laugh anthology. My main love is writing children's/YA novels...I'm now enduring a fruitless search for an agent... I also draw and paint, I like to draw animals (usually my adorable crazy cats!)Occasionally famous people and motorcycles.

And Another...

Rejection, that is. Not to worry. This one was from Woman's Day, the Australian magazine which admittedly I haven't researched so didn't expect much. That's an important rule isn't it? Research your market! I know, I know. Ok, will consider myself told off.
However, I've just sent off another story to WW to keep up the numbers!

  1. One consolation is that at least you have an outcome. Woman's Day often don't respond to me at all, which leaves me hopeful for months. Then I have to assume the story has been rejected, which is all a bit unsatisfactory. Good luck with WW!

  2. Good Luck with your other story to WW!

And treat yourself to something nice and hang on to your other story - it will find a home - all orphaned stories do. So onwards and upwards for you and all the very best!

    Take care

  5. Joanne -I know, no response at all is sooo frustrating, especially when you take the long wait to mean good news!

Old Kitty - aw thank you, I hope all our orphaned stories do find homes!

Joanne - Thank you, I'm trying so hard to focus I'm getting a headache! haha :)

Suzanne, Thanks so much for the hug! x

  6. Keep trying. I also learned to address the editor by name as it shows that you've done your research.

Rejections are a way of getting you to try another place that may well turn into an Acceptance! :)
