About Me

My photo
Hi, welcome to my blog, I am a writer of short stories, children's and YA novels . An acceptance from People's Friend finally made me a published writer! Yeah, happy days! I have since had stories published in The Weekly News and The Last Laugh anthology. My main love is writing children's/YA novels...I'm now enduring a fruitless search for an agent... I also draw and paint, I like to draw animals (usually my adorable crazy cats!)Occasionally famous people and motorcycles.

How two sentences can take all day to write.

I have finally finished editing a short story for People's Friend.
I had a nice letter from them asking for just a couple of changes, which
sounded reasonable, I thought, 'I can do that', 'it shouldn't take long'
How wrong I was!
It was just a few small things, but changing one sentence changed the mood of the whole paragraph, then altering the paragraph meant altering something else on the previous page and so on.
I had to stop after several hours of deleting and writing and deleting, as I was on the verge of throwing my laptop out of the window.
Anyway, I have printed off the story ths morning and I'm off to the Post Office, with fingers firmly crossed.
If they don't like it this time, I may well cry. A lot.

Simple changes, there's no such thing is there?

  3. I know what you mean. Those small changes seem straightforward and you make a start, thinking it will be a ten minute task. The last one took me four hours!

Very, very best of luck with it!

  6. Some days I seem to write in such a bitty fashion that I'm happy if I do get two decent lines done by the end of it.

Good luck with the story. It's so helpful when they give you a second chance to get it right.
